Machine Quilting & Fiber Art Workshops
Debbi Trevino is an expert machine quilter and quilting instructor. Her love of teaching is evident when one participates in her classes. She has a vast knowledge of machine quilting on a longarm machine. Debbi has been an instructor at MQS on an annual basis. (Machine Quilters Showcase) and has appeared on Quilt Central Television in Paducah, KY. She is a Celebrity Longarm Quilter available for teaching. She also teaches annual at MQX (Machine Quilters’ Expo) in New Hampshire. Debbi will be teaching at the HQMS Home Machine Quilting Show in Salt Lake City, Utah, May 8-10, 2008. Debbi is available for teaching nationally and internationally.

Introduction to Longarm Quilting

All day workshop to introduce students to the world of longarm machine quilting. Learn about industrial machines, maintenance, battings, running a business, etc. Limited hands on sewing. Debbi will share with you tips for success $165.00 us. per person. Five hour workshop


Beginning Longarm Quilting Workshop
A full day of gaining confidence in longarm quilting! You will learn about your machine and everything in between. From how to choose patterns to selecting the right threads, & many tips and tricks of the trade $450.00 us. Six Hour Workshop.

Advanced Longarm Quilting Workshop
You know how to run your machine but now you want to learn some fun, creative designs to create on your longarm. Learn about thread play, garment embellishments, feather designs, trapunto, etc. Lots of fun in this class $550.00 us. This class is offered on-site as well as to local guilds, shows, etc.


Feel the Difference! Batting Workshop
How do you know what battings to choose? Will they beard, lose their shape, or shrink? What is the benefit of a scrim? Your quilted projects look nice when they leave your studio, but what happens after the customer washes it for the first time? Debbi will teach you all about battings and their best applications in this fun and exciting workshop. Learn everything from cotton to silk. You will be more knowledgeable when choosing that perfect batting for your next project. Door prizes. Informative handouts provided. 2 Hour Presentation $350


Fabric Dyeing the Easy Way
Learn how to dye beautiful fabrics using a variety of methods. From baggie dyeing to bucket dyeing you are sure to be satisfied with your personal stash! Full morning or full afternoon workshop $250


Surface Design and Dyeing Workshops
Learn fabric discharge dyeing and surface design in this one or two day workshop. We will learn various manipulations of this ‘mock’ shibori technique and chemically discharge the dyes in the existing fabrics. After this step is completed we will add additional colors and watch our fabulous fabrics emerge! The workshop doesn’t need to stop here, as we are now ready for part two. We will sandwich our unique fabrics and begin experimenting with various surface design techniques. Thread play, couching, etc. One day workshop: $400 Two day workshop $600

Floating Applique
This unique technique that Debbi has perfected on the Longarm machine is offered to Longarm Machine Quilters or Domestic machine quilters. She currently has one of her art quilt pieces accepted for publication with over fifty international quilt artists that use this technique. (Book name pending - The Artful Deck) Using a combination of cotton, silk, suede, etc. your fabrics will sing. Embellishments of threads and beads just add the finishing touch. Two Day Workshop - $600

All That Jazz On A Jacket OR Collage Jacket Class
Debbi will show you how to work with an ordinary sweatshirt, your domestic or longarm machine, decorative threads, etc. to create a beautifully unique jacket or vest! All day workshop $450


Master Class Collage
2 Hour Lecture/Demo

Learn to create your own unique textile fibers using this innovative technique of collage. Once you learn all the different applications, you will be able to apply these techniques to create custom fibers for clothing, art wall hangings, quilts, jewelry and more!. $350

 

Secrets to a Successful Business
2 Hour Lecture/Demo

You are not the only longarm quilter in town, so how do you succeed in business? Successful business owner and quilter Debbi Trevino will share with you some great profitable business tips and things you can do to fine tune your business. Whether you are beginning a business or just want additional tips to point you toward success, then this is the class for you. $350

 


Shapes A La Mode
2 Hour Drawing

Do you know how to draw a straight line? Then your quilting will never be the same again! Debbi will show you how to take that line and create a multitude of shapes to fill your quilts with unique designs. This drawing class will allow you to discover how creative you really can be! Skill level: Beginner/Intermediatae. $400 Max. 50 students

 


Dimensional Designs of Nature
Hands on Workshop 6 Hours

Surface design and dimensional painting will be the theme of the day as you learn to free motion quilt nature inspired designs like plants, water, trees, flowers, rocks, etc. or fun geometric shapes using your machine. You will learn to use assorted threads and embellishments as well as learning to work with expandable textile and metallic paints. $500 ($15 kit fee)Student supply list provided.


Combination Collage
Hands On Workshop 4 Hours

Learn to create your own unique textiles using innovative collage techniques. We will be designing a small 20" x 20" project using wool, cotton, silk, bark, decorative yarns, etc. $450 ($10 kit fee)Student supply list provided.


3-D Birds Nest Postcard
Hands On Workshop 4 Hours

Create your own textile fiber dimensional postcards! Yes, you can really send these through the postal system!! Students will create a dimensional nest with eggs and all. Students will be working with Angelina fibers, decorative threads, free motion quilting, etc. $350 ($14 kit fee)Student supply list provided.

 

Business Development
What does it take to develop a successful business? Debbi will take you through some important steps to setting up a successful venture. What questions do you need to ask? How do you advertise? How to attract customers, employees, and many other things you may need answer for. Two hour lecture $250
